Meet Lieutenant Kieran Pollack from RAISING KANE

She's Raisin' Kane, committed to reporting the truth. He's Kieran Pollack, master at spinning the facts in favor of the criminal justice system and those who serve it. Truth or fiction: both could bring them to their knees.

Let's talk a bit with Lieutenant Kieran Pollack. Where are you from? Right here, Victory, New York.

Tell us a bit about Raising Kane. Mallory Kane returned to her hometown of Victory after losing her job as an on-air TV reporter for a station in Albany, our state capital. Her dismissal was unfair and. She blames herself for trusting the police officer who gave her the tip which led to an expose on a crooked politician. He [the pol] took revenge and she paid the price with the loss of her job but also her reputation. While covering a protest march here in Victory, a riot erupted. Mallory and a few of the protestors were arrested and jailed overnight. Needless to say, her feelings about law enforcement are not what we'd call positive. My job as public information officer is to maintain the reputation of the PD in a favorable light at all times--even if that means twisting the facts. Mallory's refusal to cooperate with the investigation makes things worse for me, personally and professionally.

What did you think the first time you saw Mallory? Prior to our first encounter, my taste in women ran to petite blondes. Mal is the exact opposite, from the color of her hair to her legs which stretch all the way to her ear lobes. Plus, she's got a voice which is . . . interesting.

What was your second thought? That her face had been injured, either in the holding cell or prior to her arrest. Regardless she should have been offered medical care during the booking process. Not a good move on the part of the Victory PD.

What made you choose police work for your career? I followed in the old man's footsteps.

Didn't you tell Mallory he was a 'garden variety asshole who was killed by a pissed off hooker hiding a switchblade in her boot'? Michael Francis Pollack was not a sterling example of a law enforcement officer.

What is your favorite movie? The Sandlot and Running Scared with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines. Both make me laugh out loud.

Favorite author? Michael Connelly

Favorite TV show? Justified.

Favorite fictional character? Boyd Crowder and Raylan Givens from Justified. Gee, I'm looking at this list and see a number of favorites fall within the law enforcement community. A connection, do you think?

What is the best piece of advice you ever received? This came from my mother. I like it for a number of reasons, mostly because it fits my Mallory like a second skin. “Whatever you give a woman, she's going to multiply. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a feast. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She will multiply and enlarge what is given to her. So, my son, if you give her crap, you will get back more shit than any one human being can handle. I just gave your father more shit than he wants to handle. Pay attention.” I did.
